PURPOSE: This program is designed to prepare students for employment
as a licensed Skin Care Specialist. Instruction is designed to qualify
students for employment upon successfully obtaining a Facials Specialty
Certification.
PROGRAM CONTENT: The content includes, but is not limited to:
communication, leadership, human relations and employability skills; safe
and efficient work practices; Florida cosmetology law and rules; acquisition
of knowledge of the nails specialist and the related chemistry; bacteriology,
anatomy and physiology; art of make-up; and development of skill in
performing the manipulative and electrical techniques required in the practice
of nails specialist occupations.
This program focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses
understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the
cosmetology industry; planning, management, finance, technical and production
skills, underlying technological principles, labor, community, health,
safety, and environmental issues.
Instruction and learning activities are provided in a laboratory setting using
hands-on experiences with chemicals, implements, and equipment
appropriate to the programs' content and in
accordance with safety and sanitation practices in the trade.
LENGTH OF PROGRAM: This program consists of a core and one
occupational point.
OCP A (Facials/Skin Care Specialist) 260 hours
Upon successful completion of this hours of instruction designed to meet
the learning objectives and completion of forty (40) services, a school shall
issue a certificate of completion in the specialty area of Facials. Application
for the State Board License is required.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES: Upon completion of the program,
employment can be found as Skin Care Technician, Cosmetician,
Cosmetologist's Assistant, Manufacturer's Representative, Beauty Supply
Salesperson.
SALARY: The salary range is from $11.55 to $16.17, and may vary depending
on specialty and experience.
NOTE: Different kinds of Financial Aid are available to eligible students and
eligible programs. Applications and information regarding financial aid
